Back to top 5) Association (Headquarter) Bi-Monthly Newsletters The newsletters is valuable to its members which keep you abreast of the latest events in the wedding industry and the activities of wedding professionals. You will also be informed of up to date schedules of seminars/ training/ workshops which are held. Advertising often provides discounts on wedding merchandise only offered to members. Stories include news of Association activities, bridal trends, as well as current information designed to help those in the wedding business. Members are featured in each issue, so you can learn from the success of others. The membership fee is inclusive of the subscriptions to the newsletters, which is worth US$25/per year.
ABC (Singapore) is currently working on a Singapore version e-newsletter with at least 4 issues in a year. The newsletter will be tailored and cater to our Singapore markets and trends. Whatever the question, from etiquette to management, you will get the answer. If we don't have the answer, we'll do the research or provide sources that can help. Back to top CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT11) Professional Development Program One of the benefit of membership is the “Certificate in Professional Wedding Planning” (CPWP) professional development program available to its members. This allows you to establish your credentials through a comprehensive education. Along with participation in seminars and the recognition of peers and clients alike, members can increase their recognition ultimately to Master Bridal Consultant. This is foundational for new members as it will greatly benefit them to prepare them as an all rounder professional wedding planner where the course does not only coach participants the technical know-how but also all the soft skills that are required to be a successful wedding planner/consultant. These offer you an opportunity to network with other wedding professionals in Singapore or in the Asia Pacific region. Seminars, workshops and training programs are designed to improve your professionalism as you enter the wedding consulting business or as a new vendor in the market or to better equip yourself as an successful entrepreneur or successful business owners. Seminars will be scheduled throughout the year and will be listed in the ABC-Singapore’s website. Back to top 13) Regular Field Study Trip to United States and/or Other Countries As part of the continuing professional development, there will be regular or periodic field study trip to US and/or other countries whereby we get to learn their wedding cultures, venues, service providers and to meet with other members of the association in that country or region, so that we can be continually inspired for ideas for our clients. These field trips are only open for members only unless otherwise stated Back to top 14) Annual Conference The association conducts an annually conference namely, Business of Brides, in the US during the second weekend of the month of November. Areas of interest at the conference include the trade show, roundtables, seminars, workshops, off-site dinners and time with the experts. This conference is only opened to the association members, their guests, and members of other professional organizations, the conference will play an important rule in networking and educational content and more importantly an enriching perspective of the wedding planning industry. Back to top BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT15) Advertising ABC (Singapore) will launch an integrated advertising and marketing campaign in Singapore. This campaign aims at creating awareness of the Association, it’s roles and responsibilities as well as promoting the products and services of members. As member, you will be invited for co-op advertising in the local publications which will stretch your advertising dollar and maximise its reach to your target audience. Back to top 16) Networking As a member of the association, you will be able to access other professionals in the industry. Networking is reported to be one of the most useful aspects of association’s membership. There will be a bi-monthly networking sessions; the specifics are currently in process. One of the features of the networking session will be that new services will be introduced to members. Back to top 17) Referrals As a direct result of advertising and publicity, as well as listings on the association website, brides may/will contact the association for referral to a wedding professional. You may select the areas and even countries for your market areas. The association will be providing a brochure to the bride describing the benefits of using a professional consultant with the association. This service can be quite effective, especially if you are just starting out. Just send your resume to the office and we will take care of the rest and be in touch with you shortly. With the association’s presence in 40 countries, there will be opportunity for overseas placement as well. Back to top 19) Apprenticeship Program Many country coordinators / vendors offer an informal program to help Assistant Bridal Planer members / interns learn by working with experienced consultants / vendors.
The programs may offer an excellent opportunity to learn from the experts, who often are willing to share, while not "giving away their secrets". The apprentice program is not just limited within the country but can be extended to other countries where the association has a country coordinator.
